BEACH REPLENISHMENT

The pumping operation is complete in South Bethany, but there is still equipment on the beach and the dunes need to be built up.

Go to the Beach Patrol page for details on how to support our Beach Patrol by purchasing the SBBP 2012 Planner.  The planner is a great gift idea for Christmas.

NOTICE – YARD WASTE
PLASTIC BAGS ARE NOT ALLOWED FOR YARD WASTE PICK UP.
YARD WASTE THAT IS IN PLASTIC BAGS OR THAT IS COMINGLED WITH TRASH
WILL NOT BE PICKED UP.

  YARD WASTE NOTICE

Change:  Yard waste curbside pickup is every other Wednesday beginning Wednesday, January 11, 2012.

Please note that yard waste must NOT BE COMINGLED with trash.  The Town of South Bethany has all yard waste taken to Blue Hen Organics for recycling.  This produces a considerable savings for our residents.  The yard waste pickups that were conducted in South Bethany on March 8th and April 12th had trash comingled with the yard waste.

Blue Hen Organics noted that the following items were found and had to be separated from the yard waste:
Soda Cans, Water Bottles, Bottles of Contact Solution, Shaving Cream, Razor Blades, Broken Flower Pots, Plastic Flower Pots, Aluminum Foil, Styrofoam plates.

Do not comingle trash with your yard waste.  Follow the guidelines listed below:

Yard waste consists of grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, and shrubbery (absolutely no soil or food products).  If bagged, it must be bagged in recyclable paper yard waste bags.  Yard waste may be cut into no longer than 4-ft lengths, bundled (cotton string only) and placed at the curb for pickup.  If yard waste is placed in a trash can, the trash can must be at curbside with the lid off (not in a bin).  Logs are limited to 30 lbs and 4 inches in diameter.  No trash is to be comingled with yard waste.  To ensure pickup, yard waste should be put at curbside the night before pickup day.  Yard waste that is in plastic bags or that is comingled with trash will not be picked up.

Only recyclable paper yard waste bags will be accepted.
